May is Mental Health Awareness Month. To honor this awareness month, I decided to compose a poem that describes Cambridge Somerville Recovery Learning Center (CSRLC) in a fun way.
CSRLC – Free for Your Recovery!
Come and join the community of the CSRLC,
A mental health service of peers that is completely free!
We support each other in physical and mental health,
Offering an array of activities for your inner wealth.
Get fit and exercise with Wii, yoga, or dance!
Lift that depression – now’s your chance!
Or maybe you want to learn about WRAP,
a wellness recovery action plan group; there’s even an app!
Improve your nutrition and learn about food
Join cooking group and get in a fun mood!
Relax with music, piano, guitar, or art –
Wellness begins with whatever you choose; it’s your choice to start!
Lean on peer support in our NAMI groups;
All free, no need to jump through insurance hoops!
Build connections and friends at CSRLC –
A place where peers can share, talk, and just be.
Learn computer, resume, and interview skills
Move towards school or employment; we believe that you will!
CSRLC creates an interdependent community –
Where peer support, learning, and connections are the foundation of wellness keys.
Your pathway to recovery may start however you choose at the CSRLC. You may decide to simply join us for a cup of coffee or tea. As you feel more comfortable, you could decide to share daily successes and challenges in our National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Connection support group. You could choose to learn a variety of wellness strategies in our Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) group, or you may decide to form connections with others in our Managing Loneliness or LGBTQ groups. Perhaps you want to focus on physical health, track daily health goals with our supportive volunteer health coach, or cook healthy meals in a fun group environment. You may even consider learning to meditate or exercise with our certified yoga instructors. If you want to get up and moving, then feel free to join our Wii simulation games or our fun and exciting Bad at Dancing Party!
The choice is yours – start your recovery today and join CSRLC! For more information, please contact CSRLC Program Director Janel Tan at 617-863-5388 or email@example.com.
