Vinfen Program Director Janel Tan were honored with Massachusetts Association of Mental Health (MAMH) Special Recognition Award at MAMH’s annual Friend & Leader Event on May 3. The award recognizes Janel’s accomplishments and leadership in the recovery field as well as her efforts to inspire hope and provide support for people with psychiatric conditions.
“For me, this award symbolizes not just my efforts, but all the efforts of my colleagues and peers who have helped make a positive difference in the recovery and peer movement,” Janel said. “This award represents the strength, courage, and perseverance of all people with lived experience who face challenges with a resilient spirit and move forward every day with determination. I am grateful for the leadership and teamwork of all of my colleagues who develop and maintain recovery learning communities, and who advocate for person-centered, affordable, and improved healthcare systems. Together, we can continue to reduce prejudice, raise awareness, and recognize that people with lived experience need to have equal voice in the mental health system.”
