Vinfen hosted our first ever Bingo Brunch on Saturday, April 29 at Atwood’s Tavern in Cambridge, MA. The event brought together more than one hundred Vinfen staff, people we serve, friends, family, supporters, and runners, all in support of Vinfen’s Run-4-Life.
The Bingo Brunch was emceed by bartender and comedian Liam Davenport, who oversaw five lively rounds of Bingo and presented grand prizes to our lucky winners. Director of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services Steve LaMaster took the stage in between games to thank all those in attendance, and bring attention to the many programs that Vinfen’s Run-4-Life funds. Some of these initiatives include community gardens, yoga classes, and Fitbit walking groups.
Each year, 48 Vinfen staff, people we serve, and supporters team up to run the Run-4-Life relay, a race from Hull to Provincetown, MA that raises funds and awareness for people with psychiatric conditions. Compared with the general population, people with major mental illness lose 25-30 years of normal life span. But thanks to your support, and the support of all those who attended our Bingo Brunch and support our Run-4-Life runners, Vinfen can create health and wellness programs that significantly reduce the likelihood of adverse health outcomes for people with psychiatric conditions.
A special thank you to the many local businesses who supported the Bingo Brunch by donating prizes: Inman Oasis, The Druid, BISq, Muqueca Restaurant, Souper Roll-up Café, City Liquors, Flour Bakery, CVS, Improv Boston, Downeast Cider House, Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, Boston Duck Tours, Marathon Sports, and Aeronaut Brewing Company. And thank you to our Run-4-Life sponsors: Atwood’s Tavern, Alexandria Real Estate, Merchants, and Pelham Pharmacy.
