Vinfen’s Gateway Arts held their annual Summer Sale as part of the Brookline Village Fair on June 11 at their studio and craft store in Brookline Village, MA. Hundreds of Gateway Arts artists, staff, friends, family, supporters, and art-lovers came out to visit Gateway’s table at the fair, which featured a spin wheel to win prizes picked up at the gallery. The prizes included sketch pads and colored pencil sets donated by Blick Art Materials and illustrated Gateway Cookbooks.
Gateway Arts artist Sean Maher had his own table on the sidewalk outside Gateway to showcase his art. Sean has developed a following as the creator of “The Guins,” a series of artwork and merchandise reproductions of cartoon penguins celebrating birthdays, holidays, and graduations; playing beach volleyball; performing in a rock band; and much more. Sean had a great time meeting with longtime admirers of his work.
The summer sale also marked the grand opening of Gateway’s latest exhibition, New England Landmarks. This exhibition features paintings on uniform canvases by Gateway artists of sites familiar to them in this region. Fifty-four of the paintings have been selected to be reproduced into a deck of cards, soon to be available at the Gateway Arts Craft Store.
