The Hot Stove Saloon, located on Cape Cod in Harwichport, MA is a place where you can gather with friends for a bite to eat and a cold beverage. But to members of our community, it is also a true supporter and champion. In August 2011, the restaurant stopped taking credit cards and instead began donating the money saved from not having to pay fees to area nonprofits. Some customers were a bit surprised at first and not everyone had the requisite cash on hand, but the Leidners accommodated their customers with the installation of two ATMs at the restaurant.
Vinfen’s Cove Clubhouse, also located in Harwichport, have been fans of The Hot Stove for years. The restaurant was named after the Hot Stove League, which refers off-season baseball talk that often took place around the “hot stove.” Impressed with the mission of the Clubhouse, restaurant owners Gabe and Ron Leidner decided to add them to the list of nonprofits they support. Cove Clubhouse just received their fifth donation from the restaurant, which has donated nearly $100,000 to nonprofits since it began this program in 2011.
Thanks to Gabe and Ron for not only supporting Cove Clubhouse, but many other impressive nonprofits in the Cape Cod area. Next time you’re on the Cape be sure to stop by with cash and hand and check out Hot Stove Saloon (http://www.hotstovesaloon.com/)
