Gateway Arts Held Opening Reception for Art and the Self

Vinfen’s Gateway Arts presented an opening artists’ reception for their newest exhibition, Art and the Self, on Friday, September 14 at their studio in Brookline, MA. This exhibition will remain open through Saturday, November 3, 2018.

The exhibition, juried by Wendy Tarlow Kaplan, features the work of artists of Studio A, and the achievements possible when using art as a vehicle to create a new self. “We congratulate them and the Studio A staff for their focus, determination, and perseverance toward the goal of adding their voices to the world of art,” remarked Stephen De Fronzo, Artistic Director as Gateway Arts.

During the opening reception, 65 guests attended and enjoyed gallery talks by Gateway artists. Ruby Pearl, a Gateway artist, shared “I realized that I’m becoming a real person not a damaged person, I’m no longer a damaged person. I wanted to recreate the woman not just who I am, but I wanted to do the image of all the women in the world that needed to stand up and feel like they were living also.”

This exhibition was supported in part by a grant from the Brookline Commission for the Arts, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
