Vinfen is pleased to announce that Adult Community Clinical Services Lead Peer Specialist Don Lonergan is the 2018 recipient of Vinfen’s Peer Leadership Award. Don is a veteran of Vinfen’s peer workforce. He has been working at Vinfen for over seven years, holding a variety of positions including Program Director of three Southeast Recovery Connection Centers and Community Based Flexible Supports Recovery Coordinator.
This award recognizes the outstanding achievement of a Vinfen staff person who has lived experience of a psychiatric condition and has made significant contributions to the company and peer movement.
“This has been the first and only company that I have worked at, as part of the peer workforce,” Don shared. “It has been an honor to see and be a part of the growth in this area of the company over the years. Being a part of a team that views what I felt to be a disability most of my life, as a strength, is so empowering.”
ACCS Team Leader Leslie Stupakevich stated “With Don’s commitment to peer recovery work, he has been able to implement high quality care to the people that we serve. His leadership skills are unprecedented as he goes above and beyond to ensure that the Peer Specialist staff are trained and feel supported in their roles. With Don’s knowledge of Vinfen’s mission, he has been instrumental in the transition from CBFS to ACCS. This has contributed to the successful collaboration between the clinical nature of ACCS and the person-centered approach of a Peer Specialist.”
“Having supervisors that respect what you can offer the team is incredible. To be able to use my own lived experience to help others on their road to recovery, has been a privilege,” Don said. “I’m humbled to receive this years Peer Leadership Award. It was definitely a surprise and an honor.”
Please join everyone at Vinfen in congratulating Don on his incredible achievements.
