Celebrate spring’s arrival with our latest issue of the VOICE. In this issue, we look back at our 12th annual Moving Images Film Festival, Meaningful Lives | Outside the Lines that was held on March 2 at the Joseph B. Martin Conference Center in Boston, MA. Over 400 people attended to view the seven powerful films and three thought-provoking panels.
This issue also covers the great work our Peer workforce is doing. From being accepted into leadership training programs to winning awards for their dedicated work, our Peers play an integral role at Vinfen. If you are a person with lived experience and are inspired to join our Peer workforce, please visit our website. As Lead Peer Specialist Don Lonergan, CPS states about his role, “To be able to use my own lived experience to help others on their road to recovery has been a privilege.”
You will also learn about Vinfen’s participation in the Supported Employment Demonstration, a federal study that assists people who are on disability benefits receive services to help them gain employment as well as independence. One participant, George, had struggled with homelessness, maintaining a job, and taking care of his mental health. With the support of Vinfen, he has found a job, a place to live, and is saving money to buy a home. “My goals are falling into place,” exclaims George.
Lastly, you will read about Vinfen’s commitment to advocacy, our upcoming events and art shows, and how your contributions during the holiday season have made a difference to the people we serve.
