Sunshine and Sales at Gateway Arts

In conjunction with Brookline Village Day, Gateway Arts held their Annual Sidewalk Summer Sale with marvelous artwork, home goods, jewelry, apparel, and more that was all deeply discounted. This was Gateway’s biggest markdown event of the year and proved to be a true success!

The day of the sale was full of sunshine as patrons welcomed summer by gathering to view all the artistic items available for purchase along Gateway’s storefront. Guests were also encouraged to explore the inside of the stunningly renovated store to see all that was offered by Gateway artists. “This is my favorite time to come to Gateway. I can’t believe these prices,” said one supporter. Another patron added, “I’m going to tell my friends about how beautiful Gateway is and to come support the wonderful artists!” With such a splendid turnout from the community, the sale yielded over $2,500 in just one day.

Gateway’s Store Manager Loel Westermann couldn’t be happier with all the purchases during the one-day event. She is excited to see the sales continue through the month of July. “It is an exciting time. With over 100 artists, we have so many lovely pieces of art and it’s an opportunity to get some of the best artwork at a very good price. Everyone wins,” she explained. “I love our artists so much and one of my happiest moments at Gateway is watching customers light up with their purchases.” Items still available for purchase include artwork from all the studios, scarves from their weaving studio, pottery, paintings, fun one-of-a-kind shirts, pillows, sculptures, and more.

This sale is extra special because with over 100 artists at Gateway, it serves a platform for many different artists to sell their creations, which indeed helps to support the artists financially. “The sale gives us a chance to make many customers happy and provide many artists with bigger paychecks,” Loel mentioned. For every purchase made at Gateway’s store, the artist receives half of the total proceeds. The other half goes directly to Gateway’s mission of providing individualized, arts-based services to adults with disabilities, and supporting meaningful lives and careers in art.

Each purchase is meaningful at Gateway Arts and each customer receives an artist bio that depicts the artist’s ability in art. Currently, there is a 25% off store wide sale through the entire month of July. There is also select merchandise that is discounted by 50% or even 75%. With so many treasures to be found, this sale is such an incredible opportunity to directly support the artists.
