Celebrating Courage at the Cambridge/Somerville Recovery Banquet

In the spirit of coming together to share a meal, listen to good music, and be with family and friends, hundreds of people we serve, staff, and family members celebrated at the annual Cambridge/Somerville Recovery Banquet at the Arts at the Armory in Somerville. On this festive evening, Master of Ceremonies and comedian Richard Shinegold got the crowd roaring with laughter as he sprinkled in jokes while directing the events of the evening.

Brave attendees got up in front of the microphone to open their hearts and share inspirational stories of overcoming difficult circumstances with the crowd. Many shared experiences of recovering from mental illness, addiction, and homelessness with support from Vinfen. Then people brought their talents to the stage with musical performances on flute and guitar. Accapella and slam poetry rounded out this fantastic celebration. A hearty, warm dinner was served after the performances, and several attendees voiced that they had a great time at the event.

“This was my first banquet with Vinfen. It’s been so amazing to see people enjoying themselves, having a good time and having good food. It was also great to see all the talents,” shared one Vinfen team member.
