Coming Together to Give Thanks

Senator Nick Collins, Billy Higgins, Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, Massport, Boston Firefighters, and Vinfen hosted the annual Friends of Metro Boston Thanksgiving Celebration on November 27, 2019. With the biggest turnout since the event began 16 years ago, hundreds of people we serve, staff, family, and friends came together for a delicious Thanksgiving meal, dessert, music, and great company.

At the event Congressman Joe Kennedy mingled with the crowd, while Governor Charlie Baker greeted attendees. So many were also excited to meet and take photos with Senator Ed Markey too. Vinfen Chief Operating Officer Sophie Jones shared, “This was a terrific event, the team worked very hard, and we served over 450 people. It was very successful!”

Vinfen Director of Service Jon Murphy chimed in “Another great turnout at Florian Hall. This is a wonderful partnership with the Vinfen Friends of Metro Boston, the Boston Firefighters, and a lot of great community groups.”

Vice President Tim Wing thanked the fantastic, hardworking volunteers who made the event run smoothly even with the larger than anticipated crowd. “Thank you to all the volunteers that showed up. Volunteers come out 365 days a year to help at different events. There are so many people that appreciate it.”
