Vinfen’s Run-4-Life is finally back this year, taking place on September 16 through 17. The adventure will start in Bretton Woods, NH and will conclude at Hampton Beach. This 200-mile relay course will be run by Vinfen staff in shifts as they raise donations to enhance the health and well-being of the Vinfen community.
Why does Vinfen run for life? The average life expectancy for people with mental health conditions and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities is significantly shorter compared to the general population. This is largely due to treatable medical conditions that are caused by lifestyle risk factors like smoking, obesity, and inadequate access to medical care. The good news is that people can take steps to influence these factors and significantly reduce the likelihood of an adverse health outcome.
By running, we promote awareness and raise vital funds to support the health and wellness of the people we serve. All donations go directly to our Health and Wellness fund in order to award small microgrants to Vinfen programs that wish to develop initiatives that:
- Increase overall health awareness
- Encourage physical activity
- Provide nutritional education and support healthy eating
- Explore mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and other stress management activities
- Promote community involvement and partnerships that support healthy living
