Events at Vinfen

Events at Vinfen embody our values and mission of transforming lives together. Each event has a unique purpose or initiative where our staff, the people we serve and their families, community partners, and supporters are celebrated, essential funds are raised, and platforms are established to increase awareness and resources to better serve our community.

Vinfen hosts a suite of events on an annual basis. Vinfen’s Celebration of Family Partnerships honors the incredible people we serve and their family members within the Vinfen community. Our Moving Images Film Festival uses the power of film to host a free, community-building event that raises awareness, fosters important dialogue, and fights against the prejudices and discrimination often faced by the people we serve as well as the mental health and disability communities. Vinfen’s Run-4-Life serves as an annual fundraiser where donations support the health and well-being of the people we serve. And Vinfen’s Innovative Technology in Behavioral Health Conference creates an educational platform where technological advancements and the integration of digital technology with mental health are celebrated.

THE LOST SKILL OF ASKING FOR HELP

ខែមីនា 16, 2023

Vinfen’s Family Support Center and Autism Support Center presents The Lost Skill of Asking for Help presented by Cheryl Ryan Chan.

Join us virtually on March 16. Two times are being offered:
11:00 a.m. (sponsored by Family Support Center)
6:30 p.m. (sponsored by Autism Support Center)

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Many find it difficult to ask for help. In today’s society, some may think that asking for help can be perceived as a sign of weakness. This is a damaging belief with a ripple effect that can contribute to caregiver burnout and leave the people in need of care vulnerable. It’s important for us to challenge these perceptions and practice the skill of asking for help. Join us as we explore the barriers to asking for help and identify strategies to approach seeking help with intention; so that, ultimately, the lives of caregivers and those we love can be better balanced and more fulfilled.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Cheryl Ryan Chan is a public speaker, person-centered practitioner, community builder, and activist for the disability community. Based in Massachusetts, Cheryl has traveled throughout the U.S. to train, facilitate, and present on tough subjects related to caregiving and preparedness for adult life. Her experience comes from working with hundreds of families and being mom to an adult son with severe autism and intellectual disabilities. Learn more about Cheryl at CherylRyanChan.com.

RSVP by March 12 to Patrica Middlemann at [email protected] or 617-206-5902 to receive the Zoom link information.
