Nurses Play a Critical Role Across Vinfen Services
·
Vinfen nurses provide expert, compassionate care across programs and communities, playing a vital role in supporting individuals’ health, recovery, and independence.

Every day across Vinfen, nurses help individuals navigate some of the most important and vulnerable moments in their lives. They provide clinical expertise, emotional support, stability, and compassion — often all at once.
Earlier this month, Vinfen celebrated the Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nurses’ Aides who serve throughout the organization during National Nurses’ Week 2026. Their work touches nearly every corner of Vinfen’s services and plays a vital role in helping individuals live healthier, more independent lives.
In a message shared with staff during Nurses’ Week, Vice President of Nursing Justin Douglas reflected on the impact Vinfen nurses make every day.
“This year’s national theme—The Power of Nurses—is a reminder of something we witness here every day,” Douglas said. “Your power is not just in your clinical knowledge, though that is immense. It is in your ability to navigate complexity with skill, to meet vulnerability with grace, and to bring clarity where there may be uncertainty. Your perspective deepens the quality of support we provide together. And because of that, the people in our care are better supported, more fully seen, and more empowered in their own well-being.”
The impact of Vinfen’s nursing staff can be felt across our continuum of residential, behavioral health, and community-based programs.
In residential and day programs, nurses provide hands-on care for individuals with complex medical and behavioral health needs. Within Vinfen’s Community-Based Mental Health division, nurses are embedded in Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) teams, bringing individualized support directly into communities. Nurses also play an essential role in our Community Based Health Clinic (CBHC) and the Restoration Center of Greater Lowell, helping individuals experiencing mental health crises receive compassionate assessment, stabilization, and support.
“Across both settings,” Douglas says, “our Behavioral Health nurses work in environments that demand resilience, flexibility, and extraordinary compassion. Whether responding to acute crises or supporting long-term recovery, they consistently show professionalism, empathy, and deep respect for the individuals they serve.”
Vinfen is also investing in the future of nursing through workforce development and career advancement programs designed to support the next generation of healthcare professionals.
As Internship & Career Development Manager Rebecca Negreli explains, Vinfen participates in Massachusetts’ state-funded Licensed Practical Nurse career ladder program, helping direct care workers and Certified Nursing Assistants pursue nursing careers at no cost.
“We have relationships with a number of educational institutions,” says Negreli. “We’re trying to create a workforce pipeline that helps bring new people into nursing. They are powerful recruitment tools for the next generation of nurses. We’ll invest in our staff—give us your time, and we will help you advance in your career.”
As Vinfen continues to expand services across Massachusetts and Connecticut, nurses remain central to the organization’s mission of providing compassionate, person-centered care.
