Residential Counselors at Vinfen ensure a safe, comfortable, supported home environment for people we serve.

As a Residential Counselor, you will provide direct support to people with psychiatric conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injuries, or behavioral health challenges in a small group residential setting or an individual living arrangement. In your role you will work together with the people we serve, their families, friends, employers, and other support staff to transform their lives.

In this role, you will develop close relationship with our residents, partnering with them, their families, friends, and support network to help them achieve their personal goals and build skills needed for greater independence. As a Residential Counselor, you will assist individuals to develop self-management skills, meal planning and preparation, and transportation to medical appointments. You will work with individuals to foster social connections, friendships, and community membership while respecting and celebrating the individual’s culture, talents, and contributions.

You may face challenges in your work. Different problems may arise, and your close connections to the people you support may make you feel emotionally burdened at times. But many Residential Counselors take great pride in supporting residents and making them feel respected and treating them with dignity.

This position may also be a great stepping stone to a position in social work or nursing as well as managerial positions within Vinfen.
