On Friday, June 7, Vinfen’s Brain Injury Community Center (BICC)—a Somerville program dedicated to assisting individuals with acquired and traumatic brain injuries in learning new skills and fostering independence—hosted an Open House, Open Doors event that welcomed members, community supporters, and neighbors to learn more about the program and its services.

Visitors had the chance to tour the program, meet members of the Center, and hear their personal stories. And, at the event, Vinfen’s Vice President of Specialized Services Sandy Schultz made the announcement that the BICC would be undergoing a name change–with members of the program proudly unfurling a banner that rechristened the program as Clubhouse 2422.

“In the two-and-a-half years since we opened our doors, all of us here have been struggling to come up with a catchier name for our program than Vinfen’s Brain Injury Community Center,” Sandy told the guests in attendance. “One day, I was giving the Center phone number to someone and happened to mention that the last four digits of our phone number, 2422, spell BICC on the phone. Lo and behold, we had found the new name of our Center: Clubhouse 2422.”

Vinfen was honored to have Representative Christine Barber and Representative Mike Connolly in attendance for the event, as well as representatives from the office of Sen. Pat Jehlen, and our partners at the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Committee and the Statewide Head Injury Program. Their steadfast support has been critical to Clubhouse 2422 becoming a supportive social community that its members have ownership of, and a place where they can work in unison to help each other grow and thrive.
