Film Festival | Vinfen

On Saturday, March 15, the 18th Annual Vinfen Film Festival transformed GBH Studios in Boston into a powerful celebration of human resilience, creativity, and connection. Close to 400 excited moviegoers—including many members of Massachusetts’ human services industry—came together at GBH for an afternoon of inspiring, thought-provoking feature-length and short films, and panel discussions with filmmakers, human services professionals and individuals with lived experience.

Audiences were moved by a Deaf and autistic woman’s inspirational story of surviving incarceration and finding healing from trauma through art in Being Michelle; felt the wit and warmth of comedian Gary Gulman as he shared his experiences living with depression in The Great Depresh; learned firsthand about the challenges a young man with a disability faced in embarking on his independent adult life in The Ride Ahead; and experienced the intersection of empathy and education from our diverse collection of short films: Roads to Recovery, Vince, The Punctual Vagrant, و Jelly Brain.

All of us at Vinfen were thrilled to share this remarkable day with so many members of the extended Vinfen community. We are profoundly grateful to all the talented filmmakers, moderators and panelists who joined us to discuss our selected films; our wonderful hosts at GBH; our fantastic sponsors, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, HUB International, and so many others whose generosity helped make the Film Festival possible; all the dedicated Vinfen staff and volunteers who worked so hard to make the event a success; and, finally, all those who attended for being such an extraordinary and engaged audience!
