When you’re living on the street, everything you own may have to go everywhere you go. 

For people experiencing homelessness on Cape Cod, that can mean carrying their belongings throughout the day while worrying that something important could be lost or stolen. 

de vinfen Homeless Outreach and Engagement Team (HOET) recently found a simple way to ease that burden: 12 outdoor lockers at its Hyannis location, giving people 24/7 access to a secure place to store their belongings. 

The lockers are just one part of the support HOET provides. Individuals can also connect with resources including primary medical care, shelter and congregate housing referrals, and weekly wellness activities, along with help meeting everyday needs such as laundry, new sneakers, and personal care supplies. 

Sometimes, making life a little easier starts with something as basic as knowing your belongings will be there when you come back.
