Residential Counselors: Types of Positions
As an ACCS residential counselor, you will provide direct support to people with mental health conditions in a residential Group Living Environment (GLE) designed to foster independence. In your role you will work together with the people we serve, their families, friends, employers, and other support staff to transform their lives by building independence skills and increasing each person’s quality of life.
In this role you will have a range of duties include administrating medication under the Medication Administration Plan (MAP) and assisting people with activities of daily living such as household chores and cooking. You will also work alongside the Program Director and outreach teams to implement treatment plans, which are recovery-oriented, person-centered, harm-reduction, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and strengths-based approaches.
As a residential counselor, you will provide direct support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities or behavioral health challenges in a small group residential setting or an individual living arrangement. In your role you will work together with the people we serve, their families, friends, employers, and other support staff to transform their lives by building independence skills, social skills, and increasing each person’s quality of life.
Residential counselors have a range of duties include administrating medication under the Medication Administration Plan (MAP), implementing treatment plans, and assisting people with activities of daily living such as household chores and cooking. You also strengthen residents’ connection to their community by providing transportation on outings such as shopping, recreation, and doctor’s appointments.
