Vinfen's App Evaluation Committee & Selection Process
Apps selected to be featured by the Vinfen App Committee are evaluated based on the following criteria: user-friendly, visually appealing, aligns with Vinfen’s mission and services, and the extent to which it addresses the challenges it claims to provide support for. Peer Technology Navigators (people receiving services with skills using technology) also provide input on app organization, ease of use, and accessibility of users with impaired vision or other disabilities. Next, the app is then further assessed using an evaluation tool developed by the Vinfen App Committee that contains over 40 questions to determine which apps to ultimately feature. Vinfen’s app evaluation framework is modeled after the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) App Evaluation Model. Additional components of the review process include evaluating evidence-based information provided by the app and user privacy and security.
