Each spring, members of Massachusetts’ human services community—professionals, individuals receiving services and their families, and supporters—come together from all corners of the Commonwealth to assemble at the State House and let their voices be heard by those in power. On May 22, close to 400 members of The Caring Force—a statewide advocacy organization for human services, established by the Mass. Providers’ Council—assembled in the Great Hall of the State House for the Force’s 12th annual State House Rally, and Vinfen was proud to be represented among their numbers.
This year’s event featured several Caring Force members sharing inspiring and impassioned stories about their personal experiences, highlighting the vital importance of the work done in the human services sector. This was followed by presentations of Caring Bear Awards to Rep. Mindy Domb and Sen. Joan Lovely for their staunch support of human services within the State Legislature.
Following the speaking presentation, Caring Force members who made the pilgrimage to Beacon Hill headed off to meet with their respective legislators to lobby on behalf of critically important proposed legislation affecting our industry—including bills calling for wage equity between community-based human services workers and state workers in similar job roles, and a student loan repayment program for human services workers. Vinfen is proud to have been part of such an impactful day of advocacy, and having the opportunity to speak out in support of those we serve and those who work so diligently to serve them.
